Yin Yoga-$20- Pre-registration required
YIN YOGA is a gentle practice targeting the “yin” tissues of the body and the energy meridians. Muscles are elastic tissues and respond torepetitive motion and heat (of more vigorous or “yan” styles of yoga) to release and lengthen. Whereas tissues like tendons and ligaments are plastic, requiring time and passivity in a pose to conform to a new shape or length. In this class we address both. We DO fewer postures so that we can BE in them longer, cultivating presence and compassion with the sensations that arise when we give them the space and breath to do Optimally this is a deep and relaxing practice. And Nature is a great place for it. Props are not required; however, If you have some kind of mat, bring it, along withsocks, a blanket, even a pillow and scarf if you have them. You’ll do fine without them, but you’ll appreciate having what you bring for creative collaboration with your body as we play.
Michou Landon blends her training in a number of Hatha Yoga styles with her studies of Asian healing disciplines, psychology and nature. Her aim is to bring mindfulness, curiosity, playfulness and compassion to the practice, so that these may express in our lives beyond the mat. She encourages a practice guided by internal wisdom (rather than competitive or athletic focus), cultivating presence and body awareness that naturally promote universal connectedness and compassion.
She specializes in Yin Yoga and in Principle Based Partner Yoga, which teaches us how support for and from another profoundly deepens our practice, on the mat and in all relationship. She has led children’s classes called Yoga Safari. Michou also leads practices in fundamental, nature based Qi gong and is a writer and poet, a singer, and a clairvoyant counselor; she brings all these gifts to bear in her movement practices, private sessions and public ministry.
